Renaissance, Reformation period. First third of the 16th century.

The man is wearing a belted Schaube or short coat. This type of jacket was worn around the entire century. When rich bourgeoisie it was occupied at the edges with fur and handed over the knees, the nobility down to the ankles. Often it was worn only as an overhang. Later she went on a dress in the women’s fashion and was worn as fulminöses gown.
The dress of the women was that of men closed at the collar. The sleeves reached to the hands and were cut closely. Often they had little slits in the armpits. The veil was shorter than headgear contributed to the hood or the Calotte.
