The village of Neuwiller-lès-Saverne owes its origins to a Benedictine abbey founded in 723 by Saint Sigebaud, Bishop of Metz.

The village is located in the French department of Bas-Rhin, in the Grand Est region, in the historical and cultural region of Alsace and in the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park. In a picturesque landscape at the foot of the Vosges, surrounded by vineyards, meadows and woods. The name of the city is attested in the Latin spellings Novumvillare in 1070, Neovillare in 1085 and Neovilla in 1264.
