The insurrection was the term used in the Kingdom of Hungary to refer to the nobility’s defence of the borders and the king. Theoretically, it was cancelled in the revolution of 1848/49. However, the last insurrection took place as early as 1741 in defence of the lands of Queen Maria Theresa against the invasion of Frederick II of Prussia. The term was also used during the Coalition Wars. In 1809, for example, a considerable number of insurrectionary troops were involved in the Battle of Raab.
