Les Robes de Paul Poiret racontée par Paul Iribe.
Paul Poiret was the first designer to come up with the idea of publishing his designs in the form of a fashion album. 1908 appeared by Paul Iribe illustrated Les Robes de Paul Poiret in an edition of 250 copies. Another album, this time illustrated by Georges Lepape, appeared in 1911.
In contrast to the designs of his colleagues, Poiret’s models were for the first time wearable without a corset and yet not only chic, but almost elegant – revolutionary for that time. He even propagated trouser skirts, which until then had only been accepted by female cyclists.
