The Arrest of Voltaire 1753 (Francois-Marie Arouet 1694-1778).
When staying in the German City of Frankfurt, where he made a stopover on his onward journey, accompanied by his secretary Cosimo Alessandro Collini, he was on 31 May 1753 at the instigation of the Prussian King Friedrich or the local Prussian representatives Baron Franz von Freytag on suspicion that he had illegally nicked a lyric manuscript of the king, subjected to a baggage check and found in his hotel, the Württemberg court, under house arrest. The clarification of the matter was associated with humiliating circumstances that triggered a number of public protests. She pulled up to the 7 July through, then Voltaire Frankfurt could leave.
